Why Sugar Land adults choose our Richmond clinic
Sugar Land has no shortage of large medical groups, yet many adults in First Colony, New Territory and Riverstone want something different: one practice that knows their history, answers the phone and can usually fit them in the same day. Lifecare Primary Medical is a small adult practice on South Peek Road in Richmond, just off the Grand Parkway, led by Samira Khan, MD, a board-certified internal medicine physician. She works alongside physician assistants Tanveer Khan, MPAS, PA-C, and Sadaf Siddiqui, MPAS, PA-C, and family nurse practitioner Nettah Ndungu, FNP-C, so there is usually a provider available on weekdays.

Sugar Land health by the numbers
Sugar Land grew from 78,817 residents in 2010 to 111,026 in the 2020 U.S. Census, and a growing, aging population means more adults living with conditions that develop quietly. Nationally, the CDC estimates that about 48.1% of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, yet only about 22.5% have it under control. The CDC also estimates that 40.1 million Americans have diabetes, that 27.6% of adults with diabetes do not know it, and that 115.2 million adults have prediabetes.
Those numbers are the reason we treat an annual physical as more than a formality. A blood pressure reading, an A1C and a lipid panel take minutes, and because we run metabolic, lipid and A1C testing in-house, most results are part of the conversation rather than a phone call days later. When a number is out of range, we build a plan and see you again to check that it is working.

Making the trip from Sugar Land work for you
Because Sugar Land patients often drive 20 minutes or more each way, we try to get as much done as possible in each visit. If your provider expects to order a lipid panel or glucose test, ask whether you should come fasting, and bring your home blood pressure or glucose log so trends can be reviewed on the spot. Many patients schedule their annual physical, routine labs and a medication review together, then use telehealth for the shorter check-ins in between.
If you ever need hospital care, Dr. Khan is affiliated with Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, and our team coordinates referrals to specialists and sends records where they need to go. When you are transferring from a previous Sugar Land doctor, sign a records release at your first visit and we will request your chart so nothing is lost in the move.
Insurance accepted for Sugar Land residents
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and UnitedHealthcare. Plans and networks within each insurer differ, so call 281-712-7757 with your member ID before your first visit and our front desk will confirm your coverage. For Sugar Land retirees on Medicare, that call is also a good time to ask about scheduling your yearly wellness visit.
